THEERAPY

My approach to therapy is based on, attachment theory and the model of treatment known as Emotionally Focused Therapy.

In my work with adults, family and couples I make my best to work closelly attuned to the unique inner experience that my clients are having so we all can make sense of their feelings and use them in order to generate desirable changes in their lives and their relationships.. My therapy is ususally highly empathic and warm but also active and oriented to specific tasks that will lead to the desired goal for our work in therapy.

I provide bilingual and remote therapy services via Zoom, which is an easy to use and reliable platform that complies with the desirable security standards outlined to protect the confidentiality of the sessions.

EFT COUPLE THERAPY

Emotionally Focused Therapy ( EFT ) is a state of the art treatment model developed by Dr. Sue Johnson, a multiple awarded therapist, scientist and author who is also been referenced as “the best couples therapist in the world”.

EFT is based on the scientific study of love and human bonding. Its method is acknowledged by the APA (American Psychological Association) as having valid research supporting its effectiveness. About 70-75% of couples who go throught the process of therapy with EFT move from distress to recovery and approximately 90% show significant improvements.

When it comes to love we all need to find the answer to this one question: “Are you there for me?”

The EFT model starts by acknowledging that people are inherently social and that we are biologically hardwired to look for and mantain strong emotional bonds with our partner and loved ones. From the craddle to the grave we need to experience secure attachment and we all look for it and hurt deeply when we feel the loss of it.

EFT understands distress in relationships as centered in the loss of secure emotional connection and that a negative pattern of interactions will be triggered when this loss is experienced. These patterns are often characterized by anger, criticism, defensiveness or withdrawing, among others. Over time this patterns are quickly triggered by signals of emotional misatunement and end up being corrosive to the bonds of love and security in the relationship. EFT targets these negative patterns of interaction so the partners can interrupt them and then, with the help of the therapist, they can identify and express their emotional needs in a way that helps their parnter to understand and respond in a more atuned way. In turn, a more secure emotional bond is cultivated.
